The prevalence of non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs), particularly hypertension (HTN) and diabetes mellitus (DM), represents one of the greatest challenges for global public health. These conditions generate a high burden of morbidity and mortality, significantly affecting individuals’ quality of life.
Therapeutic adherence emerges as a multidimensional phenomenon. Biomedical interventions often fail when they do not take into account the sociocultural factors that influence patients’ decision-making. This ethnographic study aims to analyze how individuals diagnosed with HTN and DM perceive their pathological condition.
