This project explored socially vulnerable communities in San Diego County to evaluate the impacts of the Safe Routes 2 School (SR2S) federal funded program. Identified accident (injuries and fatalities) hot spot areas for future routing improvements, developed and designed: a SR2S web-based visualization tool for easy road safety monitoring and reporting, SR2S surveys, a virtual reality (VR) educational transit safety training game “KIDS 4 Safe Routes VR” for children ages 11 to 14 years old, and strengthened community collaboration of transit safety across San Diego County, CA.
