Citizen Science

The citizen science case studies provide basic process steps for planning, designing and carrying out citizen science projects to advance the missions of their agencies to improve cross-agency collaboration, reveal opportunities for new high-impact projects, and make it easier for volunteers to find out about projects they can join. This section provides a number of citizen science projects to assist government practitioners, researchers, citizens, community leaders, and educational institutions to “leave no one behind” and consider all types of people. We believe that the current growth and availability of citizen science projects and relevant applications to support citizen involvement is massive; every citizen has an opportunity to become a scientist and contribute to a scientific discipline, without having any professional qualifications. Looking at the field through the lenses of under-representative populations, this section provides critical insight to practical ways to inform technological innovation and future research through citizen science tailored-based solutions.
