The Metabolism of Cities Living Lab, Director, Dr. Gabriela Fernandez and Director of the Center for Human Dynamics in the Mobile Age, Dr. Ming Hsiang Tsou presented at the ESRI User Conference 2023 in San Diego California to showcase their research on the SDGs along the US-Mexico border entitled “San Diego County’s Sustainable Development Goals Tracking Dashboard.”

Para Mi Barrio aims to increase awareness on the current health of the Barrio Logan community, both virtually and physically through sustainable programs. The mission is to provide easy, digestible information for the Barrio Logan community, which can be used as fuel for the community’s activism.
Sewage and Plastic Pollution in Imperial Beach, California: A Public Health Educational Campaign
Imperial Beach is a city in the southwestern area of San Diego County just 5 miles north of the Mexico border. Community members have protested sewage and trash runoff, odors, ear infections, bacteria levels, skin rashes, and unusual taste in the water, despite governmental water quality testing policies.
Evaluating the Safe Routes to School transportation program in social vulnerable communities in San Diego County, California
Walking or biking to school is more than twice as common among students from low-income households than students from higher income households. Creating safe routes to school is one key mechanism to achieve social equity goals by providing safe opportunities to walk and bike regardless of a community’s socio-economic composition.
