Health disparities left Black Americans vulnerable to contracting Covid-19 and dying from it at nearly two times greater than the rest of the population. The ComSciCon webinar aimed to build trust with black communities to fight inequalities that lead to racial disparity in healthcare.

The Urban Metabolism and Minority Pulse Campaign -7 tailor-based educational toolkits were developed for underrepresented populations on the topics of climate adaptation, urban metabolism, civic engagement, sustainability, and climate change using citizen science methods.

Kids 4 Safe Routes VR Game Intervention
This project explored socially vulnerable communities in San Diego County to evaluate the impacts of the Safe Routes 2 School program. Identified accident hot spot areas for future routing improvements, developed and designed: a SR2S web-based visualization tool for easy road safety monitoring and reporting, SR2S surveys, a virtual reality educational transit safety training game “KIDS 4 Safe Routes VR” for children ages 11 to 14 years old, and strengthened collaboration.
